The Story

Purpose

The purpose of this site is two-fold. The first is to develop my skills as a web builder and second to talk about my Yankees hat. The reason I want to talk about my hat is simple, almost everytime I wear it somebody stops me and comments about it. I have been a Yankee fan all my life, but I do not believe you have to be a fan to like the hat!

Cap

The cap is your standard light blue baseball cap with the NY interlocking symbol on the front, what makes it different is the stiched World Series rings. Each ring has the Series date 1923,1927,1928,1932,1936,1937,1938, 1939,1941,1943,1947,1949,1950,1951,1952,1953,1956,1958,1961,1962,1977,1978, 1986,1998,1999,2000,2009 and room for more.

Examples

Besides being stopped by people walking by, they also have stopped in their cars to ask about the hat. Here are a few examples to illustrate my story:

Back in August of 2012 I had a chance to meet David Cone the great Yankee and Met pitcher. When I got to the end of the line I shook his hand and congratulated him on his perfect game. I then ask him what he thought of the hat. He said,"it was great". I told him I would tell anybody who asked about the hat what he had just said.

In August of 2013 I had my doctors appointment at Yale-New Haven Hosipital. While I was sitting in the waitng room with my hat laying down on one of the chairs, the doctor's door opens and a young women comes out. The first thing I hear is a loud scream "O my God!". At first I thought there was an emergency or she had heard bad news, she then screamed again,"where did you get that hat". She then proceeded to explain that her husband collected hats and had never seen one like it. As I got up to go to my appointment she asked if she could please take some pictures of it,and took out her cell phone and snapped several pictures to show her husband.

In October of 2013 I was standing in line at Burger-King when a young man asked where I got the hat. He has a Yankee hat collection and had never seen the hat. I had to tell him it was a gift and I was not sure where it came from. He told me he had met some Yankee players and he had a try out with the Boston Red Sox.

Closeing

In closeing I just would like to say whenever I get derogatory comments about my favorite team, I just smile and point my finger to the hat and say "you will never see a better team in my lifetime".
